Delay in the Cricket Sesaon

ALTHOUGH there appears little likelihood of cricket resuming in the county in the short term, Herefordshire Cricket Ltd have been busy helping clubs with their plans for when the game gets underway again.
“Although recreational cricket all over the country has been put on hold for the foreseeable future, we are well aware that clubs in Herefordshire will still have plenty to do,” said HCL Operations Director Steve Watkins.
“They will still have grounds and buildings to maintain while there will still be bills to pay.
“Our staff have been in regular contact with the clubs and coaches to offer them any assistance they may need in this difficult time.”
“Many clubs in the county have benefited from Herefordshire Council’s grant scheme which has eased their day-to-day financial concerns,” added HCL Chairman Ian Macklin.
“We would urge others who have not yet contacted the council to do so as they may find this to their advantage.
“The England and Wales Cricket Board has also launched an Emergency Loan Scheme for clubs, as well as a Return to Cricket Grant Scheme.
“Clubs should contact staff at the cricket office if they need assistance with either of these.”
Club Development Manager Richard Skyrme has been producing skill and fitness challenges for the county junior squads.
County Welfare Officer Claire Langford has been producing competitions to engage players old and young.
“Some of the clubs have also been busy, too, such as Wormelow where their chairman Ian Herbert has produced a series of entertaining videos for the club’s Facebook page,” added Steve Watkins.
