Elliot Wilson joins the Board of Herefordshire Cricket as Performance Director

4 Mar 2024   |   By Richard Cox

Following a detailed recruitment process Elliot Wilson, 44,  will be joining the Board of Herefordshire Cricket with immediate effect to support the work of Richard Skyrme and the Performance Boys programme in Herefordshire.

Elliot who is currently Head of Talent Pathway at Worcestershire County Cricket Club will retain his role at the club but strengthen the partnership between the two counties whilst joining the Board of Directors at Herefordshire Cricket to strengthen the throughput of cricketers from clubs in to HCL County teams and hopefully on to the NCCA circuit or First Class Game, over time.

With 14 years’ experience at Worcestershire preceded by roles in the Isle of Wight and with Lincolnshire Elliot is ideally placed to provide vision guidance and support on the pathway programme as we look to enter the next period of the ECB County Partnership Agreement. He will work alongside Richard Cox on Strategy and vision and continue to support the delivery of the programme alongside Richard Skyrme – the 3 will form a collective partnership along with Claire Langford (Pathway Administrator) to drive forward Representative Cricket in the County.

Speaking after the interview process Elliot said ‘ I am delighted to be offered this opportunity to support and advise Herefordshire Cricket at a strategic level and to get to grips with Board Directorship whilst continuing my hands-on track suit role on the Herefordshire Emerging Players Programme. It’s a great combination and a visionary arrangement that connects a First-Class County with its National County neighbour.’

CEO Worcestershire CCC Ashley Giles said, ‘ Elliot is a good man and this will be a good experience for him over time we are delighted to strengthen our ties with our close neighbours ’.

General Manger of Herefordshire Cricket Richard Cox said ‘ I have known Ashley and Elliot for many years from when we were together at Warwickshire, Elliot as a player and me as Academy Director and subsequent to that through our coaching work and of course cricket administration. He has a bright brain, full of innovative ideas and a collaborative caring approach for all young cricketers that he encounters. By making this appointment we embed the already strong relations we have with Worcestershire and gain vital support for Richard Skyrme and most importantly our players. It’s great to welcome him and we thank Ashley and WCCC for allowing us to share in his knowledge in this important area.’

For reference this is an unpaid Non-Executive Director (NED) Post alongside the other Board Directors. The Board is continuously looking for new Directors to support the work in some key areas of HCL contact Richard Cox for further information.
