Exciting times ahead for the GB Liners Marches League

Following a meeting of the Clubs currently participating in the GB Liners Marches League last evening at the Railway Club, Hereford the 2023 season will see the League under new administration. Detailed proposals have been presented to the clubs in recent weeks by the Marches League Committee together with representatives from the Worcestershire County Cricket League and Herefordshire Cricket Limited.

These proposals were debated last night followed by unanimous vote of approval. These proposals can be seen here  

Following the meeting Chair Jim Sandford said ‘ I am delighted that the new set-up has met with the approval of the clubs, and we now look forward to a 2023 season full of exciting Cricket. Clearly, we will need to meet again nearer the season to run over various important items such as regulations, administration, and finances. However, with the league now in the experienced hands of Stuart Lampitt and the clubs knowing their identity and status is secure it is a much-needed boost for Cricket in Herefordshire. ‘

Stuart Lampitt said ‘ we were approached a few weeks back by Jim and Richard Cox to help as the League had struggled with a few issues in the 2022 season. We are always happy to help and will administer the league in the same way we support the Worcestershire Clubs. The unique thing about this proposal is no loss of identity, no extra travelling, a ring-fenced programme of activity but with the opportunity to progress higher up the West Midlands cricketing ladder should a club wish to. We look forward to working with the Marches League reps, the clubs and with Herefordshire Cricket Ltd to support adult open age cricket in the County’.

The agreement commences on November 30th, 2022, for a period of 12 months with an option to review.
